UNICEF and PNUMA Regional Headquaters

The current offices of both United Nations agencies are located in the City of Knowledge, in Panama City. The buildings occupied by the offices are part of a larger architectural complex, originally built to support the Panama Canal.

Architect Andres Schulman develops the Concept Design for the new offices for both organizations as UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) Urban Architecture Restoration Expert. One of the major challenges of the concept design was to propose highly efficient and flexible spaces, facilities, and technological systems within both buildings, whose facades and volumes could not be modified according to existing regulations.
